Our attention has been drawn to commentaries on different social media platforms, insinuating that the Governor of Rivers State, H.E. Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, had purportedly reinstated the ghost workers earlier dismissed by Emohua local government council.
1. The dismissal of ghost workers in Emohua local government followed due process through a biometric exercise supervised by officials of the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission.
2. The biometric exercise was conducted in line with the anti-corruption policy of the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd to reposition the local government area.
3. The chairman of Emohua local government, Sir Dr. Chidi Julius Lloyd DSSRS, is yet to receive any contrary directive from the state local government service commission or the office of the Governor of Rivers State.
4. Emohua local government, under the leadership of Dr. Chidi Lloyd, views the news of the purported reinstatement as a creation of mischief makers and beneficiaries of the age-long corruption in the local government administration, where staff will earn three salaries with the same name in one voucher and a six-year-old child of a former caretaker committee chairman will earn a salary as staff.
5. The Rivers State Government will not make a U-turn to upturn the outcome of a biometric exercise it supervised through officials of the local government service commission.
6. Members of the public are advised to disregard the propaganda, as it is only intended to create disaffection between the Emohua local government and the Rivers State government.
7. Recall that some of those affected staff’ sought redress in court, and their matter was properly dismissed for being grossly incompetent.
8. Dr. Chidi shall not hesitate to challenge any deviation that will endanger the local government under his watch.
9. Sponsors and perpetuators of the propaganda are advised to exercise restraint.
Signed.
